First Day, Arrival. “She has called him to come to Her side” ***

The group of pilgrims will arrive to Mexico’s International Airport, where they will be received by our Guides. From there we will go to the downtown area in order to check in at our hotel. After having time to unpack we will have our first dinner with the group at the hotel’s restaurant. Then we will return to our hotel for the night.

Second Day, A Day with Our Lady.
“There I will give you all my love, my compassion, my help, my defense to all people.” ***

We start our day having breakfast with our group. Then we will have a morning visit to the Basilica area where we will have ample time to get acquainted and for prayer. We will participate in Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady. Afterwards, we will Visit the Old Basilica, now a Perpetual Adoration Chapel. We will also climb the Tepeyac Hill where the miracle of the Roses happened and where tradition holds that the first time a Rosary should be prayed during the ascent. At the top we will visit the Chapel of the Hill and on the way down we will visit the Chapel of the Well and the Parish of Indians. After a full day we will return downtown for dinner and if feasible we will ride on a touristic trolley in the downtown area. At night we shall return to our hotel for the night.

Third Day, St. Juan Diego and his times.
“There was an Indian, named Juan Diego, who had his house in Cuautitlán” ***

After having breakfast with the group, we will leave our hotel and arrive at the Plaza of the Three Cultures in Santiago Tlaltelolco, where the Temple of Saint James the Apostle is. This is one of the earliest XVI Century churches and the Parish where Saint Juan Diego was baptized in 1529, only a few years after the Conquest ended in 1521 and the Evangelizing started in 1525. From there we travel by bus on the road St. Juan Diego used to walk to his house in Cuautitlán, in the State of Mexico where we will have Mass at the Church of the Little Hill which was built over the remains of St. Juan Diego’s house. We can visit the underground museum which shows where and how he lived, and thus get a closer feeling for Our people and faith. We will afterwards have an early dinner at nearby Tepotzotlán, one of Mexico’s Magic towns where we will visit the Church and ex convent of St. Francis Xavier, now the most important Colonial Arts Museum in Latin America. This will enable us to better understand how Catholicism was lived and understood between the XVI and XVIII Centuries and how it has affected our faith since then. At the end we will return to our hotel for individual supper and to rest.

*** The passages are taken from Angel Ma. Garibay’s version of the Nican Mopohua,, and freely translated by us. The Nican Mopohua is one of the first written narratives of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe. and means “It is hereby narrated…” in Nahuatl, the language the Native people spoke in Central Mexico.

Fourth Day, The Shrine of the Fifth Apparition and the Pyramids of Teotihuacán.
“Let nothing anguish you…let your uncle’s sickness give you no distress. Rest assured he will be healed”. ***

We will start the day with breakfast and then ride to Tulpetlac, State of Mexico, in order to participate in a mass at the Shrine of the Fifth Apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe, where Saint Juan Diego’s uncle was miraculously healed at the same time Our Lady appeared to St. Juan Diego at Tepeyac Hill and insisted he visit the Bishop and prove Her Apparitions. If possible, we will talk to the brothers from the “Hermanos de San Juan Diego” order, a Mexican-American congregation which does extensive work with the poor in the area. From here, we will go to San Juan Teotihuacán, in order to visit one of the most important archaeological centers of Pre-hispanic America . We will have dinner with the group, enjoying the impressive view of the site and with enough time to visit, shop, and walk around. Once we are finished we will return to our hotel for individual supper and some well-earned rest.

Fifth Day, A Marian day in Puebla and Tlaxcala.
“Let nothing upset you… Am I not here, I who am your Mother?” ***

On this day we will start with an early breakfast with the group in order to begin the day riding to the city of Puebla in the State by the same name so that we can visit St. Dominick's Church, and pray the Rosary at the glorious Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary, one of the most exquisite examples of Baroque art in Mexico. Afterwards we will enjoy a leisurely walk in the downtown area and visit the Cathedral of Puebla of the Angels, known by this name since it is believed that the bells were carried by angels and set in the bell towers. We will then have lunch at a downtown restaurant, where we will be able to taste some of the most traditional Mexican cuisine. Afterwards we will ride to the Town of Ocotlán, in the State of Tlaxcala in order to visit the Basilica of Ocotlán – a joyous example of religious art- with a rare view of the Virgin’s Dressing Chamber, one of the very few examples still in use. Ocotlán is where another Marian apparition was held, only ten years after Our Lady appeared in Tepeyac. Both apparitions prove the closeness of Our Lady to the Mexican people. After these spiritual and cultural experiences we will return to the city, for individual supper and some well-deserved rest.

Sixth Day,The Church of the Holy Family and a day in Mexican culture.
“She calls him so he will go to her side”.***

Once rested from the hectic day we have just enjoyed we will have a leisurely breakfast with the group and then we will go and have mass at the Church of the Holy Family where the remains of the Beatified Miguel Pro are located. He is one of the martyrs of the Christian wars in Mexico during the early XX century.
After mass we recommend one of the two following options (we are considering it is Saturday):

a) Ride to San Ángel area in the south of the city to visit the Bazaar del Sábado (Exclusive craft’s market). Time for shopping. Visit the Temple and Museum of El Carmen, former Convent of the Carmelite brothers. Return downtown for dinner and free afternoon.

b) Visit the National Museum of Anthropology, where we can admire the vestiges of Mexico’s main cultures with dinner at the museum’s restaurant. Return downtown, to enjoy the rest of the afternoon

Seventh Day, A day for a Mexican fiesta: the Folkloric Ballet and a taste of our people at the Basilica.
“My Lady, my girl, my Queen. I will go in search of those divine things”.***

We will walk with our group to the Blue Tiles Sanborn’s, one of the most traditional restaurants in downtown Mexico. Then we will cross the street in order to go into the Palace of Fine Arts to see, hear, and experience the Folkloric Ballet. Afterwards there will be time to rest or walk in the downtown area. Individual lunch is suggested. By the early afternoon we will visit the Basilica area with plenty time for prayer and in order to participate in Mass at the Chapel of the Well or the Parish of Indians. After this spiritual experience we will return to the hotel.

Eight day, The floating gardens in Xochimilco.
”He was very imressed… there were open flowers, all sorts of fine flowers”.***

After having breakfast with our group we will return to the Basilica for a morning mass. Then we will ride to the south of the city to the town of Xochimilco, where we will ride on one of the trajineras (little boats), on the canals which remain from the pre-Hispanic times, listening to folkloric music and with time to shop for souvenirs. We will have a typical early dinner in the area, and then go back downtown for free afternoon. At night we will have a farewell dinner with the group in the downtown area, enjoying a Night view of the Zócalo and sharing the diverse experiences had.

Ninth Day, Farewell.
“And you will be my messenger and in you I put all my trust”. ***

Depending on the hour of the return flight we will make an early visit to the Church of St. Phillip Neri for Mass and then have the last breakfast with the group. If time allows, a last visit to the Basilica or time downtown for last-minute shopping. We will then gather everybody’s luggage and check-out from the hotel. We will take a final ride to the international airport in order to return to U.S.A., ending the visit to Mexico, but hopefully with a renewed view on life.

We can adjust to:

- Special requests.
- Fewer days.
- Connections to Guadalajara, Oaxaca, Guanajuato, or any other Colonial city which you desire.
- Connections with other touristic cities and beaches.
