Day 1
Depart from Washington/Dulles International Airport on your overnight flight to Tel Aviv, changing planes in Milan en route. |

Day 2
Arrive at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport late this afternoon.
Drive to the area of the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus preached
and performed miracles during his ministry. Dinner and overnight in Netanya,
located along the southern tip of the Sea of Galilee.

Day 3
Visit the area of Jesus’ youth today, beginning at Nazareth.
Visit the ancient spring of the village, known as Mary's Well, and the Church
of the Annunciation, where Mass will be celebrated. Drive to Cana to remember
the first of Jesus' signs in the Gospel of John. Visit the Carmelite Monastery
at Muhraka on Mt. Carmel before returning to our hotel for dinner and overnight. |

Day 4
Enjoy a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum,
to visit the synagogue and the place where early Christians remembered
Peter’s house. Celebrate Mass in the octagonal church built directly
over the remains of St. Peter’s house. Continue to Tabgha and the
Church of the Multiplication of Loaves and Fishes and stop for time
to meditate on the Mt. of Beatitudes. Ascend to the Upper Galilee
and Caesarea Philippi (Banias) before return by way of the
Golan Heights to your hotel for dinner and overnight. |

Day 5
Visit the peak of Mt. Tabor, which Christians have long identified
as the "high mountain" of Matthew 17:1, the site of the Transfiguration.
Celebrate Mass before driving down the winding Mount Tabor road.
Drive south to Jericho, ascending by cable car to the Mount of
Temptation (Luke 4). Continue up the central mountain range to
Bethlehem for a leisurely visit, taking time to see the star
in the Church of the Nativity, marking the possible birthplace
of the Christ. Continue to Jerusalem, beholding the Holy City
from the top of the Mount of Olives. Continue to your
hotel for dinner and overnight. |

Day 6
Atop the Mt. of Olives, visit the Church of Pater Noster,
where Jesus is believed to have taught The Lord's Prayer.
Continue to the nearby Place of the Ascension, now a small
mosque. Descend the Palm Sunday route to Dominus Flevit and
Gethsemane, where Mass will be celebrated. After lunch visit
Mount Zion and the Upper Room, long considered to be the site
of the Last Supper and Pentecost. Descend to St. Peter in
Gallicantu, one of the more likely locations for Caiaphas'
house, where Peter thrice denied Christ. End the day in the
New City of Jerusalem with a visit to the Shrine of the Book,
which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. |

Day 7
After a visit at the Western ("Wailing") Wall,
ascend to the Dome of the Rock and the al-Aqsa Mosque.
Drive to Bethany, hometown of Martha and Mary, and pay
a visit to Lazarus' tomb. Celebrate Mass in the Church
of St. Lazarus. In the afternoon, drive south along the
Dead Sea to Masada. Take the cable car to the top, visiting Herod’s
mountain bunker and the last stronghold of the Jewish revolt
against Rome (66-73 AD). Enjoy a swim in the Dead Sea (weather permitting),
where it almost impossible to sink, because of the high salt density!
Continue through the Judean desert to Qumran. View Cave # 4, which
contained the greatest quantity of Dead Sea scrolls before returning to
Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. |

Day 8
Enter the Old City through St. Stephen's Gate, visiting
St. Anne's Church and the Pools of Bethesda. Walk along
the Via Dolorosa (the Stations of the Cross), finishing
at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where Christians
commemorate the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Christ.
Drive through West Jerusalem to picturesque Ein Kerem, the
traditional birthplace of John the Baptist. After visiting
the churches, visit Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial,
as well as the outdoor model representing Jerusalem in
66 AD. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. |

Day 9
Proceed to the airport for the early-morning flight to Rome.
Upon arrival, enjoy a panoramic bus tour of the Eternal
City before continuing to your hotel for check-in,
with the remainder of the day free and dinner on your own.
Tonight you will overnight at your hotel in Rome. |

Day 10
This morning a walk into the heart of Christendom to Paul VI Audience
Hall for an audience with our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI. After
free time for lunch, your sightseeing will continue with a visit to
the Ancient Roman Forum. See the Arch of Titus and the Arch of Costantine
and proceed to the Coliseum for a fascinating explanation of its history.
Continue on to the monument of King Victor Emmanuel II, see the Trajan
Column and the Market, and visit the Church of St. Peter in Chains
to see the original chains in which St Peter was brought captive to
Rome and the statue of Moses, one of Michelangelo’s greatest masterpieces.
End your day with a walk throughout “Baroque” Rome to admire the Trevi
Fountain and the beautiful and lively Piazza Navona with Bernini’s most
famous fountain “The Four Rivers.” Dinner and overnight at your hotel

Day 11
After breakfast travel by coach for a full day excursion to the
pilgrimage center of Assisi, where St. Francis lived and saved
the sick and the poor. Visit the Basilica of Santa Maria degli
Angeli which encloses the shrine of the “Porziuncola” and then
continuing visit the Basilica of St. Clare, the first and most
important heroine of the Franciscan movement. Independent lunch
and free shopping. In the afternoon celebrate Mass at the Basilica
of St. Francis. Then you will visit the Basilica where the body of
the Saint is buried. Here you will marvel at the world-famous Giotto
Frescoes depicting scenes from the life of Saint Francis. In the late
afternoon travel by coach back to your hotel in Rome for dinner and overnight. |

Day 12
Soon after breakfast at your hotel you will celebrate
Mass at the Tomb of Pope John Paul II (if possible). This day will be focused on Rome’s Christian history.
Begin your morning of sightseeing with a visit to the Vatican museums which houses religious work by Giotto,
Raphael, Da Vinci, Caravaggio, and Rodin, among others. Continue on to the Sistine Chapel, the private
Chapel of the Popes, where Michelangelo’s best expressed his genius in monumental frescoes. End your
morning tour in St. Peter’s Basilica to see Michelangelo’s magnificent Pieta. After independent lunch,
visit the Cathedral of St. John.Lateran continue your sightseeing with an unusual tour of Rome and her
outskirts as your motor pasts the Tiberina Island, the Aventine Hill, the Pyramid of Caius Cestius
and St. Paul’s Gate to reach the magnificient Basilica of St. Paul, built on the site of the Saint tomb.
Driving along a section of the Old Appian Way, you will see the huge slabs that originally paved its
length and several surviving patrician tombs that once lined its way, including the massive tomb of
Cecilia Metella. Our next stop will be the Catacombs of St. Callisto, where you will celebrate Mass.
Your farewell dinner to Rome this evening will be at one of the restaurants in Rome, to taste the
Mediterranean cuisine in a typical Roman atmosphere. Overnight at your hotel. |

Depart Rome early this morning, returning to the US the same day. |
